Frank and Cheryl

We had several visitors in 2008. Our summer was completely booked. We had our grandson, JD, here all summer with his parents and brother, Austin, arriving in mid-August. Larry took the family back to Rome and picked up Frank and Cheryl. Unfortunately, I fell the last day our kids were here and broke my ankle so was unable to do much with any of the visitors! I hope they all had a good time regardless.

Rome

Frank and Cheryl spent the first 3 nights in Rome. They were able to hit most of the high spots in Rome. Larry tried to keep them one step ahead of the law!

While hanging out in the Vatican Museum, Cheryl was seen talking to the famous Cat Man of Rome.

Frank also enjoyed his time at the Vatican Museum.

They decided to bring a bottle of water home for a friend from the fountain in the Vatican gardens. This was just before Cheryl was escorted out for dressing inappropriately!

Here they are sitting on the Spanish Steps.

And here they are throwing their coins in the Fountain of Trevi. This is supposed to guarantee another trip to Rome.

Larry was there, too!

Belforte

Market day in Belforte is on Saturday mornings. This is about as big as it gets!

Looking down on the village of Belforte.

Belforte's very own castle!

On the bridge from town to the castle.

This is the bone hole in our cemetery. Once a person has spent enough time in their
crypt or mausoleum their bones are dumped into a community bone hole! I guess this is because the cemetery
here is relatively small.

Our house is just up from the cemetery. We are quite pleased with how quiet our neighbors are!

Monterone

Monterone is a small medieval village. It is a very beautiful spot. It’s hard to believe that people live here. Frank by the well.

This sign shows that you are leaving Toscana (Tuscany) and entering Le Marche region.

Urbino

Urbino is about 40 minutes from here along a winding and twisting road. This is where Federico di Montefeltro had one of many palaces.

Frank and Cheryl with Urbino in the background.

Federico must have anticipated their arrival because he had their
initials on display throughout the palace.

San Leo

San Leo was at one time a small palace for Federick di Montefeltro and was also once a Catholic prison.

The highlight of the day was when they finally put Cheryl where she belongs!

Not to mention Frank!

Turkish toilet

This is truly one experience that no one should miss while in Italy! The Turkish toilet. Normally they are just disgustingly terrible, but this one is a filthy dirty disgustingly terrible excuse for a toilet!

Urbania

Urbania is where we go when we have business with our cell phone company, or if we want to go to a bigger market, or to buy appliances.

Another attraction is the Chiesa dei Morti (Church of the Dead).

I haven’t been there yet, but it looks like a lot of fun! NOT!
